Since its founding in 2017, Creative Repute has experienced multiple opportunities that have contributed to its growth and recognition. As our clientele has grown, so has our team. We get many inquiries from like-minded individuals who admire our mission and work and want to know how they can get a job at a design agency like ours.
What are some benefits of being on our team?
- As a small business, we are a close-knit community where communication is encouraged.
- We actively support personal growth and development through the use of online resources like training and classes.
- We offer mentorship for support to team members.
If that interests you, here are some curated tips to help you put your best foot forward when applying to join the team.
Look for Active Job Postings On Our Social Media
We often get emails inquiring about any available openings we have. While we appreciate all initiatives to reach out, we highly recommend all job seekers check out Creative Repute’s dedicated page on our website for the latest job posting as well as our LinkedIn and Instagram for new job announcements. This is the most accurate and straightforward way to tell if a position is open. If there isn’t an opening in your area of expertise, we encourage you to follow our social media pages for any updates on new postings in the future.
Candidates should make sure to apply through LinkedIn rather than only sending a DM or reaching out by email. LinkedIn is our primary platform for reviewing job candidates, and emails and DMs are sometimes overlooked.
Tailor Your Resume
An ideal candidate for Creative Repute will be able to express more than just their experience and skills; they will also be able to show us their goals and motivations. As a social justice-driven agency, we want to know what is important to you and what drives you. We want to know if your values and personality align with Creative Repute’s company culture. What are you passionate about? What things do you do outside of work to better yourself? It also helps us get a sense of your soft skills. We value demonstrated traits such as resourcefulness, strong communication, social awareness, and evidence that the candidate is constantly taking opportunities to learn and build professionally on their own, such as taking certificate classes.
Pro Tip: If additional materials are asked for in the application, such as a writing sample or personality test, submitting those is encouraged, as it could be the thing that puts your application over the edge.
Have an Online Presence
The most basic thing we look for in applicants is an online presence. If we can’t find a record of you in a quick online search, that is where the hiring process ends. At the very least, we look for a relatively active LinkedIn page with 20 connections or more. This is important because it adds a degree of security to who we are possibly hiring and shows you have a degree of investment in your work life. It also demonstrates transparency to our clients about the types of people they will be working with and helps build client rapport.
Preparing for an Interview
You’ve got an interview, well done! Once a time and date are set, we like to send over a document of questions for the applicant to review and use to prepare. At Creative Repute, our approach to interviewing reflects our commitment to fostering meaningful connections with people. We aren’t trying to play mind games or pose trick questions here; we want you to come as your most authentic self. It’s as beneficial to us as it is to you.
However, that doesn’t mean the preparation process stops for you at these questions. As with any company, it is always best to do some research into the company’s work, its mission, and even some of its history to find things that you can pull and relate to during the interview. Coming up with a set of thoughtful questions is also a good idea, as it shows that you are serious about your interest and actively considering what your place in the team would look like for your life. It also reframes the interview as a conversation to get to know each other and figure out not only if you are a good fit for Creative Repute, but if Creative Repute is a good fit for you.
Creative Repute works with talent around the nation and world. First interviews usually take place over video chat, however, you should still treat it as if it were an in-person meeting. This means being punctual or, if you can’t make it, communicating with the hiring manager as soon as possible to let them know. Some other tips to remember are:
- Dressing nicely (even if we can only see you from the waist up, that waist up counts!)
- Having access to a quiet room with good lighting and a reliable internet connection
- Making sure you have a steady, working camera and microphone
- Putting your best foot forward!
After the Interview
There are still some things that you can do after the interview is over to keep your name at the forefront of the hiring team’s mind. One of the biggest things that is easy to overlook is sending a follow-up email after the interview is over, acknowledging the discussion the hiring manager had with you, and reiterating your interest in moving forward. This shows initiative and drive, two traits that we really value. Other things you can do are follow Creative Repute on LinkedIn, connect with the hiring manager, and continue to monitor your messages for any updates on if a decision has been made.
If you have been chosen, you may move on to a final interview with our CEO or one of Creative Repute’s other supervisors. Additional materials might be requested, such as a low-pressure video demonstration of any skill related to the position you’re applying for.
We will contact you when a final decision has been made. If you haven’t been chosen, it’s perfectly understandable to be disappointed. However, as things are always changing within the company, we encourage everyone to continue to watch our page for updates and follow up again if there’s another job opening. Remember, “no, not right now” doesn’t always mean “no, never.”
If you get offered the job, you will then move on to the next step, which is the onboarding process. This involves a few things, namely training and shadowing during meetings. This allows you to get firsthand experience in your role and be able to hit the ground running once training is over. After this, you will be fully a part of the team!
Creative Repute’s vision is to rally the world around critical, social, and environmental initiatives through the power of mission-driven marketing and design. If you are looking to join a diverse team of creatives looking to uphold social justice-driven initiatives, Creative Repute might be right for you!
