Creative Repute provides Philadelphia and Delaware County live streaming services and video recording for panel discussions, talks, and community-based events. Our approach is built for organizations that need a clean, reliable broadcast without the overhead of a large production crew.
For this project, Creative Repute supported Creating Dr. King’s Beloved Community Through Art and Music on behalf of the West Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, hosted at the Paul Robeson House & Museum in Philadelphia, PA. The program was connected to the University of Pennsylvania’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Symposium on Social Change and brought together artists, educators, and community leaders for an evening of dialogue, performance, and reflection centered on Dr. King’s vision of the Beloved Community.
The program reflects how cultural institutions in the city continue to create space for civic dialogue, creative expression, and community engagement.
Limited Space, Broader Reach
The event took place in an intimate, historic setting with limited capacity, creating a natural constraint on in-person attendance. While this type of environment supports meaningful conversation, it also limits access for a broader audience.
To address this, a public livestream was integrated into the event strategy. This ensured that viewers across the world could participate, especially following the event’s rescheduling due to severe winter weather.
Creative Repute’s role was to deliver a live stream service that expanded access while remaining unobtrusive and aligned with the tone of the event. Achieving this required not just on-the-day execution, but thoughtful planning around how the space, audience, and technology would work together.
Simple, Focused Production
Creative Repute delivered a streamlined setup for the panel, enabling a stable live stream while capturing high-quality footage for future use. The live stream was handled through a dedicated camera connected directly to a laptop for real-time broadcast, while a separate cinema-grade camera was used exclusively to record high-resolution archival footage from an additional angle. The broadcast was streamed directly to YouTube through the client’s account, providing a stable, accessible platform for remote viewers without introducing unnecessary complexity. The livestream relied on the client’s on-site Wi-Fi connection, which was tested in advance to ensure it met the requirements for a stable broadcast. This ensured the live stream remained stable and uninterrupted, while also preserving the event for future editing and high resolution content creation. Professional-grade memory storage ensured reliable capture of footage. The production stayed fully static, allowing the focus to remain on the speakers and the content.
Lighting was achieved through a controlled setup using a COB LED light with a softbox modifier, mounted on a stable stand to create balanced, natural illumination without overpowering the space. A subtle blue tint was applied to counter the room’s warm yellow tones and mixed lighting, helping restore a clean, neutral white balance.
In panel environments, how sound is captured and translated to a remote audience can determine the success of the stream. Careful attention was given to microphone placement, input balancing, and how the room’s acoustics and any existing speaker system interacted with the recording setup. This ensured that each speaker could be heard clearly by both the in-room audience and those joining remotely. A combination of XLR-based audio equipment and directional microphones supported clear sound capture across multiple speakers.
Creative Repute also designed and uploaded a “starting soon” screen that played as guests gathered into the space, creating a clear and professional entry point for online viewers.
Preparation played a key role in the success of the event. Prior to the event day, Creative Repute conducted an on-site visit to test camera placement, power outlets, audio, and lighting conditions within the space. Additional remote run-throughs ensured that the full process was clearly defined, roles were aligned, and backup plans were in place. All equipment was tested in advance, with confirmation that devices were fully charged or properly connected to power, and that signal flow and streaming connections were functioning as expected.
The program included an opening performance, welcome remarks, a moderated panel discussion, audience Q&A, and closing reflections. Panelists included Nile Livingston, contributing perspective on how creativity and storytelling support community-building.
Strong Engagement, Clear Delivery
The livestream made it possible for audiences beyond the room to participate in real time, supporting the program’s goal of broader access without changing the nature of the in-person experience. Viewers were able to follow the discussion clearly and engage as it unfolded, with feedback noting the strength of the audio and overall viewing quality.
The event saw strong participation both in person and online, demonstrating how a focused, well-executed setup can deliver meaningful results without unnecessary complexity. The recorded footage now serves as a lasting asset that can be edited and shared across platforms, allowing the conversation to continue reaching new audiences over time.
